SEASON 6 EPISODE 6 with Madison Bothe, Ps Jess Caruana and Emily Dean

In this episode we are joined by special guest and our dear friend Madison Bothe, as she speaks into a season we all experience in life: waiting. It could be for a promise to be fulfilled, for a dream job, a relationship, an answered prayer or many other things... what do we do in the in-between? What do we do when life hasn't turned out the way we thought it would?

[00:00:02] Speaker A: Welcome to the YA podcast. Lean in as we dive into the [00:00:06] Speaker B: practicals of life with Jesus as spirit filled young adults. Welcome back everyone to the Young adults podcast. We are so excited to be back with you for another episode as part of season six. And I'm joined by not one but two of my wonderful friends. One of them you know already. Why don't you say hello? [00:00:44] Speaker C: Hello. Hello. This is the Emily Dean, the one and only, one and only. [00:00:50] Speaker B: And we're actually joined by the person that is our mutual friend that introduce us to each other kind of in. In some strange way. But why don't you introduce yourself, Madison Barr. [00:01:01] Speaker A: Hi everyone, it's Madison. I am so honored to be here. I am originally from the Sunshine coast, so I'm a Queensland girl. I'm an east coast girl, but I do live in Perth. Yes, I am a Perth girl now, which is amazing. I serve my local house, Tribes church. Let's go, tribes. Anyone out there listening from drives go. And I help to run a movement called Circuit Riders. So we travel the nation to reach unis with the gospel, which is so cool. [00:01:30] Speaker B: And as we at the time of recording, we are just at the end of another tour with Circuit Riders, which has been so amazing and I'm sure you guys have heard me harp on about them before because we just love being so empowered to preach the gospel. Every time the team comes through with incredible training, just being fired up for what the Lord is doing and just seeing that there is such a hunger in this generation. So super thankful for you. And even just pioneering in Australia and the things that you've been doing to make that happen. Aside from all of those, I guess, ministry worlds, why don't you give us some little info about who you are and maybe random fun facts. [00:02:12] Speaker C: Okay. Okay. [00:02:13] Speaker A: All right. So a few things. Like I said, grew up in Queensland. I am a rugby fan. So nrl, Broncos all the way. [00:02:21] Speaker B: Wow. [00:02:22] Speaker A: Any Broncos fans I know, I just got to throw it some fun facts. There will be somebody who I am. I also just found out. So I just went to the chiropractor and we this is really fun fact. We just did a scan on my spine and Jess is already laughing and we found out that I have drum roll. An extra rib. [00:02:49] Speaker C: What? I know. [00:02:51] Speaker A: Yes. The chiropractor was like, has anyone ever told you you have an extra rib? And I was like, no. How would anyone know? [00:03:00] Speaker B: That is just someone's side. [00:03:02] Speaker A: No. So your rib cage actually goes all the way up and so it's up close to where? Near my collarbone. Is. I don't exactly know the specifics, but she showed me on the X ray and she's like, just so you know, you are. You are one who has been born with an extra. So that's my fun fact. [00:03:18] Speaker C: Wow. [00:03:18] Speaker A: And yeah, I think it's quite a fun fact, actually. [00:03:21] Speaker B: That is actually quite a fun fact. [00:03:23] Speaker A: I know when. [00:03:23] Speaker B: If you get a long lost twin or something, like, maybe that's how you. [00:03:28] Speaker A: I'm sure she's out there. Or he's out there somewhere. [00:03:33] Speaker B: Oh, dear. We love that. Thank you. Thank you for sharing that fun fact. I don't think I've got anything quite as fun or interesting as that. [00:03:40] Speaker A: Surely everyone has a fun. [00:03:42] Speaker C: Maybe I haven't had an X ray of my spine yet. [00:03:44] Speaker A: Everyone, this is the practical from this podcast. Can you please go and check your spine and see if you have an extra. If you do have an extra rib, I'd love you to contact me because I'd love to know my extra rib buddies. [00:03:56] Speaker C: Start a little group. [00:03:58] Speaker B: There's got to be someone else out there. [00:04:00] Speaker A: Come on. [00:04:01] Speaker B: Oh, that's awesome. Well, aside from all that and all the fun, we are super excited to have you here, Mads, because you are someone that you carry yourself in the Lord so well. You've been such an inspiration. Inspiration to me personally and especially as a woman, like, leading a ministry of young people. Having someone like yourself to look up to has honestly filled. Filled a void in my life and in my heart. And I, like, obviously, I'm super privileged to be able to do what I do and couldn't do that without people like yourself that have. That have been an example. So I'm super thankful for that. And that's why when I heard you were going to be hanging out in Melbourne with us for a few days, I was like, please come onto the podcast. Like, our people need to hear you, your story and what you bring. So, yeah, we're gonna dive into a topic I think that you exemplify really well in your life. Might not be the most fun thing to be able to say that you exemplify, but I think as we get into it, everyone will understand, like, the Lord's heart in it and how you've carried that so well. So let's dive in. [00:05:04] Speaker A: So honored to be here, so honoured. [00:05:06] Speaker C: No, so good. And just like, as a side note as well, like, obviously Jess is just explain how incredible you are and from her perspective, but as an insider perspective as well, as someone who's gotten to do a bit of life with Madison over The last few years in close spaces, having moved from Perth and done the day to day with her. Like, I know that she walks in authority in this space. And so I'm really excited for her just to impart her wisdom and experience today. And so the topic we're talking about today is waiting. And so obviously in life there are so many tensions. We live in the beautiful now and they're not yet. And there's lots of different things in our lives that we have to wait for. Whether it is a prophetic word to come true, a dream job, a spouse. You know, it could be so many kids having kids, a healing. There's so many different things that we have to wait for. Whether. And it could also be like direction from the Lord. And often sometimes we start to wonder if we're crazy. How do we do this? Well, how do we honor the Lord without getting frustrated? And so there's definitely that tension of like, okay, Lord, how do. How do we do this? And so as somebody who's kind of walked the journey in many different. Of those aspects, we would love to jump in and hear a little bit more about. What does that look like for you? What is the Lord spoken to you about this kind of. [00:06:31] Speaker A: This topic? [00:06:33] Speaker C: Yeah, we just want to throw it over to you and so. [00:06:35] Speaker A: Good. [00:06:36] Speaker C: Yeah. What? What? Yeah. Where do you want to start us today? [00:06:41] Speaker A: Yeah. Amazing. So, so exciting. I think this topic, actually, before I dive in, is like, really important. I think as we journey with Christ, I think sometimes we think there's a certain timeline maybe that we expect needs to be met. And so whether it be getting married, whether it be having kids, whether it be. Jess and I actually were just talking yesterday about the call of God in our life and should we have made it by a certain point and. And what happens when we haven't. And so even for anyone listening, I think just to even give you a bit of context, a little bit more of who I am even in regards of this topic, is I've really had to wait for a long. A long time for a lot of things. And I would say also I'm in a big tension still of waiting for some things. I'm mid-30s now, and if I can just be super transparent, I think this is exactly the place to. To be transparent on a pod like this. But still waiting to get married, just turned 35, still waiting for kids. Never in my life thought that I would be 35 and still single, no kids, had to wait many things, even in regards to some of the words that I felt the Lord had given me when I was young. But all of it, I think I've really come to a resolve that, like the word says that he who promised is faithful. [00:07:55] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:07:55] Speaker A: And so I think I want to dive into just even an encouragement of just maybe the journey I've been on of coming to that resolve of how utterly faithful Jesus is. [00:08:07] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:08:08] Speaker A: And as we're waiting, really. And I'm already diving in. But really, he is the goal. He is a prize surprise. And so what I wanted to do this morning, I actually wanted to open up. It's so funny when I got sent this topic and I was so excited to talk about it, actually had a friend who posted her devotional. Does anyone do that? Post there, like, their devotional on, like, a story or Instagram, Facebook. And she posted it, and it really resonated with me. And it was actually a lot about the story of Abraham. So we're gonna do. If you're driving, don't get out your Bible, but if you do have your Bible, I'd love to just open up in Genesis 21:2. So I'm just gonna read it. I'm gonna read out this devotional, and then we'll dive into a little bit more of what it means. And so Genesis 21, verse 2, it says this. It says, Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age at the very time God had promised him. [00:09:08] Speaker B: Wow. [00:09:09] Speaker A: At the very time. I want to say that again. At the very time that God had promised him. So I want to dive in. It says, the plans of the Lord stand firm forever. The purposes of his heart through all generations. That's Psalm 33:11. But we must be prepared to wait on God's timing. His timing is precise, for he does things at the very time that he is set. It is not for us to know his timing. And in fact, we cannot know it. We must wait for it. If. If God had told Abraham while he was in Haran that he would have had to wait 30 years before holding his promised child in his arms, his heart might have failed him. So God, as an act of his gracious love, hid from Abraham the number of weary years that he would be required to wait only as the time was approaching. This is super exciting. Within a few months left to wait, did God reveal his promise? [00:10:06] Speaker B: Wow. [00:10:07] Speaker A: At the appointed time next year, Sarah will have a son. It's Genesis 18:14. I'd love you guys to look up these verses as we keep going. The appointed time came at last, and soon the joyous laughter that filled the house caused the now elderly couple to forget their very long and tiring wait. So, dear one, the one who's listening to this podcast right now, take heart, dear child, for when we're required to wait, the one who we wait for will not disappoint us. [00:10:37] Speaker B: Come on. [00:10:38] Speaker A: He will never be even five minutes late. For there is an appointed time. [00:10:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:44] Speaker A: And soon your grief will turn to joy. John 16:20. [00:10:50] Speaker B: That's awesome. [00:10:51] Speaker A: I don't know about you girls, but that when I read that. [00:10:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:54] Speaker A: That just, that put things in perspective for me. I think a lot of times we're really believing and waiting and hoping and we can, like even that devotional said we can become a little bit grieved in our spirits of like. But I thought it was going to be this year and I thought it was going to be this year and why it hasn't happened. I know about you guys, but I definitely set a lot of New Year's resolutions. I'm like, this is the year I'm getting married. This is the year I'm going to have children. This is the year I'm going to see that thing that I've been longing [00:11:21] Speaker B: for and believe 100%. Yeah. [00:11:23] Speaker A: But what I love and I felt to articulate as we've been talking is that there is an appointed time. [00:11:28] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:28] Speaker A: And he who promised is faithful, but out of kindness. And we don't know the reasons why. Sometimes I think sometimes we feel entitled to know why we have to wait or why are you taking so long? But heaven's calendar is so different to ours. And I feel like if we're landing even on a practical. I just, I've had to come to resolve that. He who promises faithful, that Jesus is my goal, he is my prize. And in my waiting, he wants to meet me. But then also with heaven's perspective and calendar is like, there is an appointed time, there's an appointed time to wait. And so that's just what I wanted to start with this morning. [00:12:05] Speaker B: That's so good. And it's so rich because it's. Yeah. You've pulled out a beautiful story from the beginning of the Bible, but it's all throughout Scripture. Like, you look at Joseph's life, you look at David's life, these heroes. I mean, you could go to Hebrews 11 and go through all of the heroes of faith, and every one of them had, like, received a promise from God, but did have to go through the wilderness and the waiting of really. Did God really say, like, it was actually going to be fulfilled before they got to that. And it's funny because, like, I mean, we've just come out of Pentecost Sunday, we're talking about Acts 1 and 2 and Jesus literally says, I feel like you quoted this essentially in what you were just saying. Jesus says to the disciples, it's not for you to know the times and the seasons, but wait, wait for the promise, wait and how beautiful. We love to talk about Acts 2. We love to talk about that moment when the Spirit was poured out. But like the context was first. The waiting. [00:13:00] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:13:01] Speaker B: So why, like, if this is part of God's nature, why do you think? [00:13:06] Speaker A: Why do you think? [00:13:07] Speaker B: Yeah, why do you think there is a waiting? Like. Yeah, you said we're not entitled to know, but well, like, what can God do in the waiting? Or like, what should we do? I guess maybe is probably the question. [00:13:17] Speaker A: Yeah, I love that. I think there's so much to that question. It's quite a loaded one. There's, there's a lot of answers. I think, I think there really is a lot of answers. And obviously we are Bible believing Christians. [00:13:29] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:13:30] Speaker A: Who see all throughout Scripture that there is times of like character refinement. [00:13:35] Speaker C: Yes. [00:13:35] Speaker A: Like I think of Joseph, even right now when we're talking. It was like until the appointed time, God actually tested his character. So I think God is actually so invested into us as people that he often tests our character. I think also this is a topic for another day really. But like the side of idolatry that we're actually believing for something that really, actually is out of alignment or out of place when it comes to actually Christ is our first and he is our resolve. So I think sometimes it's a testing also of, hey, is this thing, are we holding that above Christ? Yeah, well, yeah. I do again come to see in Scripture that there really is just an appointed time. [00:14:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:16] Speaker A: I think sometimes, especially let's use marriage for example. There's two people. [00:14:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:21] Speaker A: There's two people that God is going to bring together at the right time. But if one's ready and one's not, or I even think of my husband, wherever you are, husband. He could be, I'm going to use a fun analogy, but he could be in China right now doing a crazy assignment for Jesus. [00:14:35] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:35] Speaker A: And so our appointed time isn't now because he's got another assignment that God has before we're meant to be. So I do think there's lots of reasons and I do think there's lots of even scriptural backing of why we have to wait. And they're just a few. But just even a short story of myself, I got given a word at 19 that I would go to college campuses and fire would sweep through these campuses. So pretty big word. At 19. This lady comes up to me at a church service and is like, madison, you're going to go to college campuses. And I was like, what does that even mean? I'm not really sure. And so that was at 19. And then at the age of 26. So years and years had passed. [00:15:18] Speaker B: Yeah. Wow. [00:15:19] Speaker A: I ended up stepping into that word crazy. Now at 19, though, when I was given that word, I tried to leave college campuses. So we say uni in Australia. So I knew it was America. God had already started speaking to me about America. But why I say this is that at 19, I did not know that I was going to have to wait until the age of 26. [00:15:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:15:38] Speaker A: So the Lord starts speaking to me at 19:20 when I'm trying to leave to go to America. And he said, madison, he said, the grass is not greener on the other side. He said, you're going to get to the other side and want a greener grass. He's like, what I'm going to ask you to do is like, what is. He said, I want you to be faithful. He said, what is in your hand right now? And I just went on this journey, and I think this is, even for someone on the pod right now, is that I think sometimes the journey isn't so much about the destination of getting to that word, it's actually about what is in your hand right now. What is the thing that God is asking me to be faithful? Because just as much as America is and has been always a part of God's plan for my life to go there. But what about all the other people God had from 19 to the age of 26? And so in that period, I became a youth pastor. I studied, I served my community, I served my local house. There was so many things I did. I worked at a pharmacy. I was like, why am I working at a pharmacy? God, you're calling me to the nations. [00:16:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:16:38] Speaker A: Was like, madison, I'm asking you to be faithful. And in that, got to share the gospel with some people, got to see my boss encountered. So I just, I feel like sometimes we have this like end goal mentality. And the Lord is saying, actually it's a journey, it's a marathon, don't sprint to try and get this thing fulfilled. But actually in that waiting and why we wait, I think coming back to the question is, I think God's doing a lot more than what we can see. [00:17:03] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:17:03] Speaker C: Yes. [00:17:03] Speaker B: There's three things that, like, immediately come to mind when I'm hearing that. One is that people would look at someone like you and be like, oh, wow, Like, I just love what you're doing for the Lord. Look at the influence you're having, look at the impact you're having. And. And not know all of that waiting and not know all that delayed gratification, I guess, and just think, oh, well, I need to get a word of the word of the Lord and just, like, act on it immediately. But actually, all of that and your ability to have the capacity that you do and lead the movements that you do has obviously been forged a lot in that waiting. [00:17:36] Speaker A: Can I be honest? I would not have the character. [00:17:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:17:39] Speaker A: I would not have the characters to sustain or the stamina or the endurance if I did not have those years and years of study, preparation, and doing the thing that God had. So I totally echo what you're saying. [00:17:51] Speaker B: Yeah. The other thing that I thought is, I. There's a lot of things in my life that I'm like, oh, I can't wait for this to happen. And the Lord spoke to me, like, probably only even a couple months ago. It was like, and then what after that Goal? [00:18:03] Speaker A: Yes. [00:18:03] Speaker B: Like, if that's your whole goal in life and I hit that at 29, then. Then what's the next six years of my life? Like, what's the point of it if it's all about just reaching the goal? And so I love what you're saying about it not being about the destination. It's about Him. [00:18:19] Speaker C: Absolutely. [00:18:19] Speaker B: Ultimately, we've got to zoom out into the higher call, the overarching call of not. I'm called to Japan, but actually I'm called to live for the Lord. I'm called to know him. [00:18:31] Speaker C: Call to Jesus. [00:18:33] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:18:33] Speaker C: That's what it is. And, like, honestly, I think. I don't know if I'm gonna throw a spanner in the works of this one. But when it comes to the calling, it's something I've been reflecting on a lot lately, is that often. And I would say this is probably something that maybe we get carried away with in the charismatic world, but because we have a lot of prophetic words and it's such a beautiful gift, but our prophetic words are meant to connect us with the one who gave the word because it's the journey of then walking that out, like you said, with him, rather than waiting for that like necessarily to see that thing fulfilled. Because whether it happens or not doesn't matter. What happens is that we're conn. [00:19:06] Speaker B: Connected to the Father. Yeah. [00:19:08] Speaker C: But what I often see is that we get these prophetic words and they're incredible, right? They give us hope. They give us something to pray for, to lean into. They often speak what God is saying in our lives. But what can happen, like you were saying about idolatry, is we raise that above. We raise the Word above the one who gave it. And so what happens is then we measure our lives based on the prophetic word and based on the call that we think we have now. Is that. Is the call wrong? No. But what are we actually called to Jesus? We are not necessarily called to something specific. My belief and what I'm really learning in this season is that we are called to love God and love others. And then we have assignments in every season as to what that looks like. Often that will look like and mirror things that the Lord has spoken because he's put specific gifts in our lives. But then when we start to actually look at our lives and only look in. I've only got to be in this lane because I'm called to ministry. I'm called to preach. So if I'm doing anything else, I'm disqualified. I'm not living out my call. I've missed it. No. Are you loving God and are you loving others? If you look through Scripture, everything God calls us to is to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God and to love God and love others. And our life has to emulate love. And that will then. And if we're doing that, if we're walking humbly with God and valuing the things that he values, we're going to be exactly where he needs us to be. [00:20:34] Speaker B: That's so good. [00:20:35] Speaker A: So good. [00:20:36] Speaker C: And so. And even as we're reflecting, like when we. Like I've been reading through Hebrews 11. And so it's been so awesome this morning talking about Abraham and faith and the promise and the appointed time. And I really believe that. But I think something that is really important, and this is something I'm very much reflecting on this in. Because I'm in a waiting season in my life again for many different things. [00:20:57] Speaker B: We all are. [00:20:58] Speaker C: We all are. [00:20:59] Speaker A: There's something always wait for always something. [00:21:01] Speaker C: But for me, particularly, like, I'm in a transition season where I'm having to actively walk out. God has brought me to Melbourne, but I don't see the full picture. And so there's parts of, like, my journey over the last, like, two years where God has been calling me out step by step, but I'm following him. And not like I've got pieces of the puzzle, but not the full thing. And it's like Abraham, where he was called to a land that he did not know and that God would show him. [00:21:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:21:27] Speaker C: But as I was reading through. What's it called through Hebrews 11, you read through the hall of Faith, and it talks about all the different people who walked in faith. And then it gets to this one part which I think is so important for us to recognize. Yes. There is an appointed time. Yes. I believe that God will bring a lot of things to fruition in our lives because he is that good. But like you were saying, Madison, there is a part of us that's never going to fully understand everything. Yeah. Okay. And in Hebrews 11, verse 39, this. After it's talked, gone through a whole list of people, it says, these were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us, they would be made perfect. [00:22:15] Speaker A: Mic drop, boom, boom. [00:22:17] Speaker C: They never saw the fullness of what was promised, because you know what? They're a part of something bigger that God is doing on the earth. It's eternal. And so what happens is when we get a narrow focus on what does my little life look like? We get off track, but we have to remind ourselves of, like, we don't deserve anything. We don't deserve anything. Our life that has been given to us is a gift. Every single aspect of our life is a gift of grace, of God. [00:22:49] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:49] Speaker C: We don't deserve the life that we have. And so just the fact that we have breath in our lungs, that we have love, that we have forgiveness, all of those things, like, that is a gift. [00:22:59] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:23:00] Speaker C: And so we. We get to operate in that. And when we. When we take our eyes off of Jesus, that's ultimately when we start to lose perspective. [00:23:09] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:23:09] Speaker B: Yeah, that's so true. [00:23:11] Speaker A: That is really where I am. [00:23:13] Speaker B: I mean, I don't even know where to go. [00:23:15] Speaker C: Sorry, I just raised there for a minute. [00:23:17] Speaker B: No, that was so good. Like, I think there's a part of me that, like, I want. I want to ask a different question, but I don't want to undermine what you've just said, because ultimately, what. What we're saying is that we need to have an eternal perspective. I can't remember which song it is, but there's a song that we always sing at church. And it's, It's. There's this line that says, catch me up in your story. All my life for your glory. And it's just that, like, that picture for me is immediately what I get of that. My life is not for myself, it's for his glory. And what you read in Hebrews 11 about that is that God had provided something better for us, that his story is so much bigger than ours. And if we would just zoom out and see that, that would be the perspective that we need. But at the end of the day, we only live our own lives. That's all we've got to give. So do you think that there is a reality in which we can. We could miss God's plan for our life? Or that, like, in the waiting, it's, you know, maybe we're looking the other way and it passed us by. Like, do you think that there's. We don't need to go, like, very deeply into this, but I just feel like it's worth addressing. Yeah. If someone's listening, going, like, what if I've missed it? What if I'm too late? [00:24:33] Speaker A: Yeah, I think that. Again, loaded question. Very good question. [00:24:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:24:39] Speaker A: I think where I sit with it, from the words perspective, if you authentically are seeking Jesus, if you have a heart, posture of God, the Word, what? The Word says this. He says, if we were to acknowledge God in all of our ways. [00:24:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:24:55] Speaker A: He'll make our path straight. [00:24:57] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:24:58] Speaker A: So, no, you can't miss if you're authentically Jesus. What are you saying about this? Or even in my box of desiring to get married. And anyone listening, like, yes, I desire to get married, but it's not the ultimate. Christ is the ultimate. So I have had people being like, oh, you should have gone out more. You should have done this or you should have done that. But authentically. I can honestly look back at my track record and I spent my whole 20s, my whole mid-30s, and it will continue for the rest of my life following Jesus, laying down my life for the Gospel. So the Bible says this as well. It says that God withholds no good thing. Yes. So I have to trust and sit down like I am sitting in a chair right now. I have to trust that as I sit in Christ, is that anything that God has for me, he will bring at the right time. Now, I'm not saying. And for the sake of time, we don't have enough time to go into it. I'm not saying that, you know, we're putting our Faith to action, we need to do that. But if we're really truly seeking Christ, then no, he, he's the master planner. He knows he has divine timing, has appointed timing. I can look back at my whole entire history with Jesus and everything that was meant to happen or a door that would open, a door that would close was from his hand. And so the other side though is I do think though, if we are choosing to not acknowledge Christ and not keep him first place and not that that's a striving thing. But if we're, if our heart posture is like I'm just going to do my own thing, I think there are delays, I think there is detours. I do think that there is, I do have some friends that God bless them, but married non Christians just because they got to 30 and were desperate. So do you know what I mean? I think you have to hold it intentionally in balance. And we see throughout scripture there were not just the disciples but like the Israelites, yeah, they had an 11 day journey 40 years later. So I do think we do have a will. But if we engage our will to surrender our hearts and say Jesus, I'm going to follow you no matter the cost. And I'm going to hold intention that yeah, I do desire to be married or I do desire that job or the call or whatever it is, but hold an intention that he who promised is faithful and we keep acknowledging him. The Bible says to seek him first and he'll add all things. So I really do think we, we cannot miss it if we're choosing daily and it's a daily choice to acknowledge Christ. [00:27:28] Speaker B: That's so good. [00:27:28] Speaker C: Come on. Amen. Agreed. [00:27:31] Speaker B: Amen. And as you said, there's so much more we could go into this. Like we could talk about this forever, but I would for the sake of time. We're going to wrap up the episode in a minute but I would really encourage you guys as listeners to, to dig into the Word and actually seek this out for yourself and get your own conviction, get your own revelation of like okay, what is, what waiting season am I in right now and what is the Lord asking me to do? And to really seek that out for yourself because yeah, we hope that you've been encouraged by our stories but like we all have an individual journey and the Lord's plan and timing for that is going to be so unique. So. [00:28:06] Speaker A: And the last thing I'd just say as we are wrapping up. Yeah, yeah. I just feel for anyone who's like this is wild and amazing but you're also human. [00:28:14] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:28:15] Speaker A: And so sometimes you need to cry sometimes. I'm going to be honest. Last week I called Emily, sitting right across from me while I was in Perth. There was a disappointment that happened and I just called her and we prayed. And that's why being planted in the house, that's why having good pastors and leaders and friends that you can talk to in that moment. So we're not negating that we're human, we're not negating that God actually has given us desires, but I think God has also given us communities and people to walk with so that we can keep journeying, keep walking and not settle. [00:28:43] Speaker C: Yes. It's so good. And I think with that navigating the disappointments as you were journeying, the waiting, there is an opportunity, one to bring community in, but also to bring them before the Lord. I think sometimes we feel like when we're disappointed in waiting because he's the one we're waiting on and we're not seeing that sometimes we don't bring them before the Lord. But actually there's an invitation into intimacy there because when we bring that before the Lord, we're allowing ourselves then our desires to be fully disclosed, displayed before Him. And as we come before him, he is then going to encourage us. He's going to one comfort our hearts where it needs comfort. And then he's also going to realign our desires where they're out of alignment. And he's going to give us the perspective and the peace that we need. And sometimes it is the peace that surpasses all understanding. So we don't exactly know what it is, but we know that God is good, he's on the throne and we're a part of his bigger picture rather than my little picture. And so sometimes it's that that happens in when we bring. But we have to come to the Lord and bring that part of our heart to Him. [00:29:45] Speaker B: Absolutely. I think that can be one of the biggest struggles in the waiting. And the disappointment is, well, I'm not talking to God because I'm disappointed by him, which is honestly a plan of the enemy because it's exactly what we should be doing in those disappointment is going actually he's the only one that's going to satisfy me anyway. [00:30:02] Speaker C: And sometimes it's subconscious too. Like we don't even realize we're doing it. But that's why it's important to recognize. Recognize it. [00:30:08] Speaker B: Yeah. That's awesome. Okay, do you wanna. Is there any last final thoughts that you wanna share with our listeners? Before we wrap up. And then I'd love for you if [00:30:15] Speaker C: you had one sentence to sum up and like, yep. Be like, hey, here's a takeaway and a quipper. Remember to do this. What would it be? [00:30:22] Speaker A: This is my one, One line is that waiting is not passive. [00:30:27] Speaker B: Great. [00:30:28] Speaker A: It's active trust. So in the waiting, you are actually trusting and it's active. And so I think if we're going to apply this, I think sometimes waiting is just. We're just waiting around. No, this is active trust. [00:30:42] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:30:42] Speaker A: So, so proud of every single person. I think that sometimes you just need encouragement that the waiting will be worth it. And Jesus is a goal in the prize. And if we stay, stay aligned to that, when the promise gets fulfilled, what a joy. And we've kept it in the right place that Christ is first. And that's. That thing is second. [00:31:03] Speaker B: Yeah, that's so good. I'm just. I just want to say one last thing. So funny. My dad used to say people think that waiting on. On God is just like sitting there twiddling their thumbs, but it's like, it's like being a waiter in a restaurant. It's. It's serving him in that kingdom. [00:31:20] Speaker A: Like, are you kidding me? Like, I'm not waiting at my house for someone to knock my door and ask me. I am like, kingdom advancement mode. [00:31:29] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:31:30] Speaker A: And so would we even just be about others? Exactly. Like we've been talking about. You can't get bored when you're advancing [00:31:36] Speaker C: the kingdom, [00:31:38] Speaker A: when you're seeking Jesus and letting him be fulfillment. And I just get so excited. I think there's a generation rising up right now that really are putting Jesus first. Kingdom advancement as the thing that God has called us to. And then how precious that we get these extra promises. I mean, honestly, last thing I'll land the plane with for me is that I don't deserve anything. Salvation was the biggest gift Jesus could have ever given me. And so when I have that in light of like a promise or something that I'm hoping to be fulfilled, I'm like, man, Jesus, you already did everything for me on the cross. Like, I deserve to die. And you took my place. Yeah, you took my place and gave me the greatest gift of my salvation. And so again, I think sometimes it's just that eternal perspective shift that we need and need to be reminded. That's why pods like this is so important, so we can encourage one another and have a perspective shift. [00:32:30] Speaker B: Amazing. Would you pray for our listeners as we wrap up? Thank you. [00:32:35] Speaker A: Yeah. Jesus, I just thank you so much for everyone listening. I thank you, Lord, that you know their season, you know they're waiting. You know the disappointment, you know the delays. You know that sometimes, God, we just have questions and we're not sure why, but I pray that in the name of Jesus, every person would just be encouraged this morning, this afternoon, wherever they're listening, however they're listening. Lord, I just pray. Holy Spirit, would you give them eternal perspective, a shift to know, God, that you are faithful, that he who promised is faithful. Would you meet them? We pray for a newfound resolve. And I thank you, Lord, that there will be fulfillment in. In these promises as you lead. So, Lord, I just thank you that you are faithful. We give you all the glory in advance in Jesus, my name. Amen. [00:33:17] Speaker B: Amen. Thank you so much for being with us, guys and listening. I hope that you have been super blessed by this. We love you so much, and we pray that this would spark conversations. We'd love to hear from you as well, how this has blessed you, and. Yeah, we will. [00:33:34] Speaker A: And for everyone who has a. Another rib. Let me know. [00:33:37] Speaker C: Yeah, if anyone's missing a rib. [00:33:41] Speaker A: On that note, we gotta shut this down. [00:33:48] Speaker B: Sam.
